What Did You Say?

***Disclaimer: I got this idea from Pinterest, an exercise where you write a 20 word sentence, then a 19 word sentence, and so on, ending the story with one word.***

“Break a leg” was definitely coined by a petty person being passive aggressive who got caught saying it too loud.

Whoever jokingly said “It’s not rocket science” would clearly not have made it in an actual aerospace engineering program.

If someone really “pulled my leg” as a prank, I really wouldn’t find that funny in the slightest.

What if “the last straw” was actually an angry declaration that there was actually one straw left?

If someone literally “bends themselves out of shape” when they’re upset, they probably need an exorcist.

Was whoever said “by the skin of my teeth” aware that teeth are actually bones?

Has someone sacrificed “an arm and a leg” in lieu of a firstborn child?

Who was the fat lady that said it’s not over until she sings?

If it truly “rained cats and dogs” wouldn’t that be seriously mortifying?

Is “It takes one to know one” just an insecure projection?

What mysteries and untold secrets could unspilled bean cans hold?

What’s the “silver lining” equivalent on a cloudless day?

Aren’t we always “under the weather” spatially speaking?

Were wild goose chases always fruitless endeavors?

What’s a salt grain for gnats?

Can you play “angel’s advocate?”

“Elephant in the room”???

“Cut the mustard”?

“Mumbo jumbo”?

“Humdrum”?
