01/28/2026: A Sway in the Matter
Are you okay?
The last words of another innocent citizen, following another truly devastating incident just weeks after a different tragedy. And once again I can’t believe the false narratives being spun. How many horrible injustices do we have to endure before the majority stands up and says enough?
Not only are people dying in facilities where they do God knows what to the people inside, people are getting shot in their neighborhoods as their fellow neighbors and loved ones bear witness. Coworkers and students are recording as a teenager gets picked up by federal agents and gets tossed out of a van in a random parking lot. Onlookers watch in horror as a man stands up to the brutality, his last words out of concern for his fellow citizens, with a free hand raised in deescalation and not an ounce of hostility.
I’d say that I wish we could wake up from this series of unspeakable nightmares, but that would imply that what we’re seeing isn’t actually happening, and that’s the most dangerous mindset we could have right now. The people who are buying the narratives and rejecting the evidence to the contrary will be the death of all of us. Not just the ones who aren’t from here or that don’t look like everyone else. Not a single one of us is safe, and it shouldn’t be just starting to matter for some of us. We should have remembered our humanity and loved our neighbors long before our streets were being terrorized to such a horrific degree, because it’s not like injustice wasn’t alive and well in similar states on the local enforcement level before all this. But for the privileged, it’s only now becoming real, and only for those that actually choose not to ignore what’s happening out there anymore.
For the rest of us, we’ve been hoping against all hope that justice for all will come, long before the privileged also had targets painted on their backs. And if privileged is too strong a word to encompass all, then let’s just say that all average citizens—also known as the population’s majority—are finally seeing the world through the less fortunate’s eyes, or seeing what it’s like to simply be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or at least a lot more of these people should be taking note.
One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how willing most people are to accept what they’re being spoonfed, and with such strong conviction. They don’t question anything because it would be too hard to learn and grow and to change their minds on such an important issue. It’s never a bad thing to change your mind, especially when you look at matters of fact objectively and rationally to the best of your ability and at least try to expand your world view beyond the “slopaganda” that’s being spewed from every news outlet 24/7. I’d respect someone a little more even if they just tried to have hard conversations, just made the conscious effort to listen to varying views and to even agree to disagree afterwards. At least you actually tried. But if you have no interest in any stance besides your own, then I’m afraid there’s not much that can be done, or said about you for that matter. Just keep your head in the sand until this all blows over. Or until the world as we know it is gone.
It’s okay to be wrong, and to disagree with others’ truths that you may find subjective, but how can you honestly see cold hard evidence against everything you believe and choose to keep believing it? Is your pride that important? Shouldn’t your shame be even greater for ignorantly sitting by and doing nothing to challenge your one sided and close minded beliefs? If this is you or someone you know, I suggest you wake the hell up before it’s too late. We need to be coming together now more than ever, not finding more reasons to be divided. That’s how they conquer us, with domination and fear.
Soon we will lose our last rights that allow us to speak out at all, and we’ll be wishing that we were a part of that group that organized and protested the injustices of this world while we sat at home making fun of them on social media for being on the “wrong side” or being “paid to gather.” Soon, when there simply isn’t a ballot box to go to to thwart the tantrum-throwing tyrant, we’ll be wondering how we got here when we supported violence and voter fraud from the beginning.
When our ex-allies get fed up with our ignorant leader, we’ll be wishing our states stood up to stop this madness in the middle of a civil war, and maybe even another world war. But, please, by all means. Keep supporting the billionaire pedophiles, the criminals and the liars who condone war crimes, invading friendly territories, and most of all the ones responsible for all the heart shattering turmoil you see on TV every single week as another innocent civilian receives fatal treatment for being a proponent of what’s right.
It’s sad that these lives had to be lost, but the only silver lining is that they have all died on the side of right. Not the right, not the left. The side of pure and honest good, something this world needs so much more of right now. These people understood compassion, what it meant to stand up for justice. The political snakes and federal murderers, however, will all die with countless innocents’ blood on their hands. And to their dismay, we’ll continue to remember those they have wronged and that we have lost, and we will make sure they remember their names too. Their deaths can’t be in vain, or we’re all doomed.
I will remember Renee, and that she was Good all the way up to her final moment on earth. I will remember Alex Pretti, and what he did for his fellow neighbors right before he was wrongfully murdered. I’ll also remember who the real domestic terrorists are, and I’ll remember what was said even when the corrupt leaders back track and try to change their tune after they were made to look bad in these tragedies, as if they can be absolved of their wrongdoing after everything they’ve done and continue to do. And to the president: You’ve made your bed, and we won’t forget the chaos and terror that you’ve rained down on our nation just because you can, and we sure as hell won’t forget our rights that you constantly contradict or try to rewrite for your benefit every time it suits you. We may be small, but when we band together—something you absolutely hate to witness—we are mighty. And we are sad, we are angry, and we are done.
I’m sure we all know the story of Jesus being tempted by the devil in the desert, how he was offered kingdoms and all the world’s riches. And when I think about the state of the world right now, I sincerely believe that the rich and powerful aren’t going where they think they’re going after this life spent wreaking unlawful terror and havoc on innocent people. They won’t make their Lord and savior proud through behavior like this, through greed and an insatiable lust for power.
Perhaps they all failed the most important test of all, believing they’re doing His work when they are actually giving into the temptation of sin. Just something to think about when you’re pondering His teachings, and how the world seemingly has no morals to stand on anymore that resemble anything human or remotely religious. I urge anyone of faith to revisit their beloved verses in these dark times. You might be surprised to learn how close the end of all things actually is. But somehow, despite everything going on in the world right now, it’s still not too late for anyone who is willing to open their eyes and to really see.
And to those that still refuse:
When it’s your mother waving federal agents by with a smile that gets shot in the face as she tries to deescalate the situation, maybe you’ll understand.
When it’s your spouse that you see being terrorized and killed by an untrained and unhinged trigger happy fed who may or may not have a criminal record or may have not even passed their drug test before they got hired to point guns into innocent peoples’ faces, maybe you’ll understand.
When it’s your neighbor that vows to look out for you and to protect her fellow neighbor and all you can do is record and watch as she gets murdered, maybe you’ll understand.
When it’s your teenage son being beaten and dumped in a parking lot just because “they can,” leaving him battered and sobbing on the ground, maybe you’ll understand.
When it’s your coworker, the ICU nurse with a heart of gold, or even a stranger standing up for you when you’re getting pushed down and blinded by pepper spray, and you’re watching him try to save you from the unwarranted violence as he’s pushed down by an angry mob of agents and pistol whipped before getting violently shot ten times, maybe you’ll understand.
And when it’s finally you, it’ll be too late to understand. So maybe the bitter truth is that you never will, not even then. And what a shame that would be if we let it go this far.
I can only hope for more empathy and understanding as I look to those that fight for real change, not only people with a say in the matter, but people with sway in the matter as well. We have our voices, but we also need their swift action to see this through. It truly takes all of us, and it’s time we hold the people with the power accountable for their actions.
