An Angsty Ode to My Favorite Coffee Shoppe
***Disclaimer: I got this idea from Pinterest, an exercise where you write a 20 word sentence, then a 19 word sentence, and so on, ending the story with one word.***

Sometimes I wonder what aspiring creative took my place at my favorite coffee shop that I used to go to.
Who sits in my old regular seat, writing or reading . . . or worse, who knows my favorite barista by name?
Every Wednesday, I used to walk through the door and see her standing there, anticipating my usual order.
She always knew what I wanted, and even if I changed it up, she never questioned it.
Two lattes and a few hours later, I would bid her farewell until the following week.
Even when I moved away, she recognized me when I came to town to visit.
She never asked if I wanted syrup, or if I wanted my drink sweetened.
No matter how much time has passed, she’s always kind and always remembers.
And there’s something to be said about loyalty and friendliness like this.
Maybe that’s why I’m so nostalgic for this long-lost time.
For a place that feels familiar, where people actually care.
I don’t really have a place like that anymore.
And I miss it more than I realize.
I miss that comfort, that welcoming atmosphere.
I miss great coffee and company.
I hope people cherish it.
Appreciate a good thing.
I still do.
From afar.
Always.
