04/05/2025: Golden Day 2

Today has been fun and relaxing. After a full afternoon and night of clouds and snow, the sun finally emerged this afternoon and we could see the mountains for the first time. I don’t think I would ever get tired of this view; it’s beautiful every time.

The day has been full of sightseeing from the sunroom, lazy reading sessions and a funny movie and even a card game. It’s always nice to step away from technology a bit and return to pen and paper and books. It’s really grounding and always opens the door to lots of laughs and meaningful conversation, and always makes the days move slower.

I’m always sad when we have to take such a short trip, but either way it was much needed and the experience will be cherished. I still dream about having my own place to escape to like this one day, but I don’t know if that opportunity will present itself anytime soon. So this will just have to do for now.

I am eager to really get back to work when I return, though I can’t say I’m eager to go back to city life, where people mill about, not caring about a single thing on the planet other than what’s on their phone screen as they rush by in every social setting, completely oblivious to the rest of us. Sometimes I do wish that I could remove myself and adopt the “ignorance is bliss” mentality, but when I see what that has done to the general population, I just feel anger and pity.

The world could really benefit from looking up right about now. Too many people don’t care enough to speak up, and it’s frustrating to watch. But when I see visible evidence that there are at least a few who are fed up with how things are, it does give me a shred of hope, even if it’s quickly lost in the sea of uncertainty and doubt. It’s hard to stay optimistic right now, but I know all I can do is say my piece and just focus on what’s going well for me and what I need to work on.

At least nature doesn’t wake you up to unwanted news and negative vibes. It’s nice and quiet, and I can rest assured that all I’m tasked with while I’m here is to soak in the beauty and the silence. Do Not Disturb works wonders in shutting out all that unwanted noise, and all I have to do is plug in and let nature take care of the rest.

As always, I’ll look forward to my next adventure and escape to some new or familiar place.
